December 10, 2007
Level 1 officials course (open to all) will be held Jan 12th starting about 4:00 pm.
This course is for all volunteers at a race.  Teaches you how to gate keep and more for what
you need to know for working at a race; very simple training for you.  Parents should try to attend as we need you for help in running a race.  This will be approx 2 hour training.  Those planning to attend can sign up at the club room.  The course will be in one of the Sugar Shacks at the hill.
November 26, 2007

By the look of the weather today, the hill should have a pretty good chance of opening Saturday, December 8th. That was the day we were going to hold our first evaluation sessions. Unfortunately, all club coaches will be on course that weekend. These are regular updates required by the Canadian Ski Coaches Federation. We will now move our season opening to the following weekend...Saturday, Dec. 15th. All coaches will then be available for the skiing assessment.
The club meeting planned for Sunday, Dec. 9th be moved to Sunday, Dec. 16th.
We can meet outside the club room at noon for the meeting, everyone welcome.

Planning for the mountain camp is moving ahead nicely. This camp is planned for Jan. 1st to 6th. We'll be staying in Canmore and training at Mount Norquay, Nakiska and Sunshine. Hotel is booked. We now need to finalize the number of athletes, parents, and transportation. I need to know who's coming. Please let me know if you're making your own travel plans. Cost will be determined by the number of athletes attending, but should be in the $500 per racer range. Following is a proposed budget per athlete...

Accommodation: Rocky Mountain Ski Lodge (Jan. 1-5) 5 nights    $100

Transportation: passenger van rental (Dec. 31-Jan 6) plus gas     $100

Lift Tickets: $30 x 4 days    $120

Coaching fees and training lanes:    $100

Meals:    $75-$100

I also need to know who needs a club jacket. We're looking at changing suppliers from Apogee to Halti. There is a grey jacket/black pant combo, in stock, that will match our current colour scheme. Cost for an adult size jacket is $248. Junior sizes are $185. Pants are $170. Go to www.halti.com to check out the Gadfly jacket and Wasp pants.

You can expect some additional cost for embroidery, plus tax. We're looking into sponsorship. More to come on that. I do need firm commitments before ordering...so, again, please drop me a line asap so we can get moving on this.

Thanks
