ALPINE PROGRAMS

The Asessippi Ski Club offers a range of alpine programs suited to all types of skiers. 
You need ski gear and a season pass. Everyone must be able to independently use the chairlifts. 

NANCY GREENE SKI LEAGUE
The Nancy Greene Ski League is the grass roots program of Alpine Canada Alpin. At this level, young skiers from 6-12 are introduced to ski racing. 
The Nancy Greene Ski League was conceived during the winter of 1968. Nancy Greene's World Cup victory the previous spring had inspired hundreds of youngsters to want to start ski racing, but there was no easy way to get started. The NGSL was the solution - an introduction to ski racing in a team format. Nancy agreed to be the Honourary Chairman, a position she still holds. 
Nancy's philosophy is that competition for children should promote participation and fun. It should de-emphasize winning. 
For the 2007/08 season, the club will offer training sessions on Saturday and Sunday. Racers will be placed, as best as possible, into groups of similar skill and interest. Sessions start at 09:00 and wrap up at 15:00. It’s a full day session so bring a lunch. Kids can expect to race, as a team, in two or three competitions a season.

Coaching fees for NGSL: $325.00 
(includes insurance, administration and Manitoba Alpine fees).

ASESSIPPI JUNIOR RACE TEAM “RISING STARS”
This program is for racers aged 9-12. The training philosophy focuses on fun while gradually increasing the level of competition. Racers are introduced to dry land training, nutrition, competitive strategies and skill development. All members of the team train together. Some competitions will be split by age group…9-10 years old and 11-12 years old.
Training sessions are Saturday’s 09:00 to 15:00. Competition events may cover both days of the weekend. Coaching will also be available for training on Sundays (optional).

MANITOBA ALPINE SKI SERIES (MASS)
The MASS circuit is the province’s highest level of competition. Racers aged 13 and up compete in slalom, giant slalom and super G races sanctioned by Alpine Canada. Members of the Asessippi Ski Team train both Saturday and Sunday every weekend. A weeklong mountain training camp is planned for January in Canmore, Alberta.
